Tradition Title Agency, Inc. was established June 1, 2007 as a collaboration between the two principals, Joseph Intravaia and Karen Keating. Tradition Title Agency is a full service title company committed to providing the highest quality of title and other services in a manner that exhibits the greatest standards of professionalism and dedication. We take great pride is providing title insurance for all residential and commercial real estate.
Joseph Intravaia was one of the principals behind Topaz Abstract Inc., which had a successful run of 24 years. Joe now brings his title expertise to this new venture. His ability to balance the technicalities of each and every title with its inherent risk factors provides the Insured with maximum coverage while at the same time providing our Underwriters with the minimum exposure. He is equally at ease with a small residential resale as he is with large commercial deals. He thoroughly enjoys the experience of working with our clients and attorneys to resolve difficult title issues. Joe also brings his 10 years of experience and knowledge of reverse mortgages to the new venture. Prior to Topaz Abstract, which he helped found, Joe was Branch Manager at Commonwealth Land Title Insurance’s Riverhead Office, a position he arrived at having years of experience examining, reading and clearing titles.
Karen Keating’s stellar success in the realm of developing and marketing title software and computer networks, combined with her hands-on knowledge of the title industry, make her an outstanding partner. Her vivacious personality and intense honesty set the benchmark for all of Tradition Title Agency’s employees. Karen’s original career in sales and her knowledge of programming led her to develop TitleTrack closing software and open AKT Inc., which she later sold to First American Title Insurance Company of NY, who then retained her as their Vice president for the next two years. Her keen insight into groundbreaking opportunities has led her into the new burgeoning area of reverse mortgages, and she brings all of this expertise into her newest venture. Karen has attended numerous conferences and conventions on reverse mortgages and shared her knowledge with the staff of Tradition Title Agency, making this new venture adept at handling reverse mortgages. Tradition Title Agency is a member of NRMLA, as well as an approved vendor for the leading reverse mortgage lenders.

Staff Biographies
Karen Keating, President
Karen seizes and creates opportunities for growth and innovation for her company and her clients. Recognizing that her reverse mortgage clients often deal with customers who are fearful and uncertain of the reverse mortgage process, Karen develops partnerships with industry leaders to educate and assure lenders’ clients, helping their businesses grow and allowing more seniors to stay in their homes in their golden years.
“With our dedicated staff and attention to detail, we streamline the reverse mortgage process and help mortgage professionals complete more closings with fewer headaches,” Karen says. “I take great pleasure in knowing that I am helping seniors especially to enjoy some peace of mind as they, not financial worries, control their own destinies.”
Getting to the root of a situation and creating a way to make it work for all parties is a pattern that Karen has maintained throughout her career. Beginning many years ago in sales, she used her programming knowledge to find a solution that could streamline the complex and time consuming process of title research with the development of TitleTrack software. This led to the founding of her own company, AKT, Inc., which she later sold to First American Title Insurance Co. of NY.
Joseph Intravaia, Vice President
Joe has been providing clients with maximum coverage at minimum exposure for more than 25 years. His experience and expertise has grown so broad that he is equally capable of handling all manner of title issues from small residential re-sales to large complicated commercial deals. Joe thrives on the challenge of finding ways to make every outcome win-win. With his uncanny ability to assess risk factors and customize solutions to every situation, he has become the industry go-to person for the most challenging issues.
“One of the most satisfying moments for me is when I close out the file on another successful closing,” he says. “To know that I had a part in helping a young family to achieve home ownership for the first time or to help a real estate investor look forward to a profitable income for years to come is very rewarding.”
His many years of experience helping attorneys, underwriters, financial professionals, and clients with examining, reading and clearing titles, and finding innovative solutions to any issue, make Joe an irreplaceable resource to all his Tradition Title Agency colleagues and clients. Joe began his solid foundation of hands-on achievement as the Branch Manager at the Riverhead Office of the Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Co. He went on to earn additional insight as a founding member of Topaz Abstract before bringing his wealth of knowledge, expertise and talents to Tradition Title Agency.
