Massachusetts Encourages Residents age 45-65 to Begin Planning for Retirement

Massachusetts recently launched an initiative called “Embrace Your Future” that encourages residents to take a proactive approach to planning for the future.

Governor Patrick mailed a letter and an “Embrace Your Future” brochure to all Massachusetts residents between the ages of 45 and 65. The letter and brochure encourage this age group, often referred to as baby boomers, to think carefully about their future and to plan for their long-term support needs.

“MVES supports the state’s emphasis on the importance of planning ahead,” said MVES Executive Director Dan O’Leary. “MVES serves as a resource for individuals who are planning for themselves, as well as for people who are caring for elder relatives or friends.”

A 44-page “Embrace Your Future” planning guide is also available at no-cost for individuals who express interest. The guide includes topics such as Lifestyle Planning; Planning for Your Care (including available community resources); Getting Legal Matters in Order; Staying at Home; Financial Planning for Long-Term Supports; and Principles for Attaining the Best Quality of Life as We Age.
